Thin Places, Sacred Sights: Ancient Irish Monastic Sites, works by Donal Haughey
November 19-December 10, 2015
Thin Places, Sacred Sitesis an expression of my spiritual journey. This work stems from a strong connection with Ireland and my life-long spiritual journey. Ireland has been a mystical and magical place throughout my life, and through my many visits I have explored Neolithic pre-Celtic stone monuments, structures and astronomical symbols, the Famine, the Shide (people of the other world). The concept of a "thin place" has been part of the Irish spiritual life long before the introduction of Christianity. A thin place is analogous to a veil that is lifted to reveal another dimension of life. It is a place where the contemporary meets the spiritual realm. In my journey to these places, I have experienced the feeling of meeting a holy Presence among the stones. -- Donal Haughey
